Chocolate Ganache Brownies, rich and decadent dessert

I vividly recall the moment I first encountered the magic of Chocolate Ganache. My brownies were already good, undeniably satisfying. This simple addition transformed them from a delicious treat into an unforgettable dessert experience.

The word “Ganache” itself carries an air of sophistication, often uttered with a playful, faux-fancy accent. Yet, I am here to debunk any myths: crafting ganache is surprisingly straightforward. Despite its elegant reputation, it’s incredibly simple to prepare, requiring only a few basic ingredients and minimal effort. However, its impact on your baking is anything but minimal. It instantly elevates your brownie game, especially for those who consider themselves true connoisseurs of chocolate. A classic brownie, in its own right, is absolutely delicious. But a brownie generously smothered with this velvety, melted chocolate lusciousness?

Imperial Sugar and Rodelle Cocoa products for baking

This incredible recipe was proudly featured during #Choctoberfest2017 – a spectacular celebration of all things chocolate! This event brought together over 70 passionate food bloggers who dedicated an entire week to sharing their most delightful chocolate creations. We were incredibly fortunate to have Imperial Sugar as our esteemed Gold Sponsor. Imagine my delight when I arrived home to find a generous delivery of 88 POUNDS of sugar waiting on my porch! This included granulated sugar, rich brown sugar, and delicate confectioner’s sugar – a baker’s dream come true! This bounty was more than enough to kickstart a season of joyous holiday baking. Thanks to their incredible generosity, I didn’t need to purchase any sugar for my holiday treats last year, and I’m confident this year will be just as sweet. Beyond personal use, I was also able to donate a significant amount of sugar to our local Chamber of Commerce for their food pantry, a gesture we happily plan to repeat. A heartfelt THANK YOU, Imperial Sugar, for your boundless kindness and support. It means the world to our community and to home bakers everywhere.

These Chocolate Ganache Brownies were my second contribution to Choctoberfest that year. My first delectable creation was a batch of Salted Caramel and Chocolate Pretzel Bars. If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend clicking over to that recipe – they offer the perfect harmonious blend of sweet and salty flavors that everyone adores. Brownie batter being mixed in a bowl

The journey to these ultimate brownies begins with a careful blend of dry ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, fine Imperial Sugar (contributing to that perfect sweetness and texture), a pinch of salt to balance the flavors, baking powder for a subtle lift, a hint of espresso powder to deepen the chocolate notes without adding coffee flavor, and premium Rodelle Dutch Cocoa Powder. Each ingredient plays a crucial role in building the rich foundation of these fudgy treats.

Rodelle Dutch Cocoa Powder container

Speaking of cocoa, Rodelle Baking Cocoa is a truly exceptional ingredient. It’s European Dutch-processed, which means it undergoes a special treatment that reduces its acidity, resulting in a darker, richer color and a smoother, more mellow chocolate flavor. What truly sets Rodelle apart is its incredibly high percentage of cocoa butter – one of the highest on the market. This ensures a superior chocolate flavor that deeply permeates your baked goods, contributing to a wonderfully moist and decadent texture. Rodelle was incredibly generous to send me this magnificent canister of cocoa, which I not only used to create these sensational brownies but also in a secret recipe for Chocolate Pancakes that I’ll be sharing with you very soon! (Oops, the secret’s out!). Using such high-quality ingredients truly makes a noticeable difference in the final taste and texture of your desserts.

Wet ingredients being added to dry ingredients for brownies

Once your dry ingredients are perfectly combined, it’s time to introduce the wet components. Gently fold your melted salted butter, eggs, vegetable oil, and pure vanilla extract into the dry mixture. Stir until everything is just incorporated and smooth, being careful not to overmix, which can lead to a tougher brownie. The batter should be rich and glossy. Pour this luscious batter into a prepared 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. Then, bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs, indicating that perfect fudgy consistency. The aroma filling your kitchen will be absolutely intoxicating! Once baked, the most crucial step (and perhaps the hardest for impatient bakers) is to allow your brownies to cool completely before you even *think* about frosting them with the magnificent Chocolate Ganache. This ensures the ganache sets beautifully and doesn’t simply melt away.

Warm chocolate ganache being poured over cooled brownies

Now for the grand finale: the ganache. Once your brownies have cooled to room temperature, gently pour the warm, freshly made Chocolate Ganache evenly over the entire surface. The sight of that smooth, liquid chocolate blanketing the fudgy brownies is truly a work of art in itself. Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it edge to edge, ensuring every bite will be enveloped in chocolatey goodness.

Glossy chocolate ganache coating brownies

Just look at that magnificent sheen! The ganache is incredibly glossy and rich, promising an unparalleled chocolate experience. It’s truly gorgeous! To allow the ganache to set properly and achieve that perfect sliceable texture, place the entire pan of brownies into the refrigerator. This brief chilling period will firm up the ganache, making for clean cuts and a satisfying bite. You might find yourself eagerly peeking into the fridge, anticipating that first luxurious taste.

Set chocolate ganache brownies in a baking pan

Once the ganache has completely set, these brownies are ready to be sliced and served. You can enjoy them exactly as they are – a simple, yet profoundly satisfying, chocolate indulgence. Or, if you’re feeling a touch more artistic, feel free to decorate them further! These brownies are incredibly versatile and perfect for any celebration, from elegant dinner parties to casual get-togethers. Honestly, they’re so good, they’re even perfect for just a regular Wednesday when you need a little pick-me-up.

Chocolate Ganache Brownies decorated with fall sprinkles

To celebrate the season, I adorned these particular brownies with some cheerful fall-themed sprinkles. It’s a simple touch that adds a festive flair, don’t you agree? Perfect for an autumn gathering or just to brighten a cozy evening in October.

Chocolate Ganache Brownies with chocolate curls

Then, a thought struck me: why not make them *look* as utterly fancy and decadent as they *sound* and taste? A scattering of delicate chocolate curls transformed them into a truly show-stopping dessert. There’s something undeniably special about presenting a dessert that is both homemade and exquisitely finished. Brownies adorned like this have a way of making anyone feel cherished and spoiled – and isn’t that what great baking is all about?
